Lanternnnnnnns

Yes, I love the Chinese lantern festivals, and thought to myself..."HOW AWESOME WOULD IT BE TO MAKE THEM 100 TIMES BIGGER AND THEN PUT THEM IN A GIANT FOREST." And so this painting was born...

I have never changed the composition of a painting so much, honestly more than ten times at least. Thanks to Maureen for teaching me that sometimes the best way to make your painting work is to destroy it. Falling in love with your initial ideas can be dangerous and keep it from reaching it's potential. One day I would love to go and actually see one of these festivals in the flesh.

Anyways, hope you enjoy it! And until next time...well Halloween is coming up and thus parties so...still stay thirsty my friends!

  2. Tim this is too awesome! Such pretty colours, it just really looks bright and vibrant, and reads well when it's small. You really like the circular-ish kinda composition, eh? Doesn't matter, you always make it work :) Great job!

  3. Thanks Izzy! It seems no matter how hard I try I can't escape the circular-ness. 'Tis like a curse!
